As most everyone has heard by now, Dr. George Tiller, a physician who provided late pregnancy abortions to women in need was allegedly murdered by an anti-abortion extremist/terrorist associated with Operation Rescue, Scott Roeder, on Sunday, May 31 at his church.

Here is how the abortion extremist movement began: an interview with Frank Shaeffer:

Frank Shaeffer’s book: Crazy for God

The murder of Dr. Tiller was a terrorist act, a political assassination, and part of an organized terrorist network. The rhetoric from the far right that has been going on for years set the tone for a culture of hate and violence.

No one likes it that we need to have abortion available to women as a health care procedure. But real life doesn’t always deal us the cards we need to protect our lives and health. No woman or family makes a choice to have an abortion lightly. It is a grueling, heart-wrenching situation to face. The anti-abortion extremists would have you believe women choose abortions on a whim, just because they feel like it at the moment. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

There are three sets of beliefs about women’s reproductive rights in America today. There is the pro-choice group, the pro-life group, and then there is the far right, extremist/terrorist anti-abortion group who believe they have the right to intimidate, harass and kill people because of their warped beliefs.

If anti-Muslim Americans protested outside of Mosques and targeted Muslim Americans for harassment and assassination, they would be arrested and their behavior would be stopped. This type of protesting would be seen for what it really is–setting up a culture ripe for violence and the murder of innocent Muslim Americans.

Interview with Dr. Warren Hern, friend and colleague of Dr. Tiller:

There is no common ground with fanatics who want to kill you. The only difference between the American anti-abortion movement and the Taliban is about 8000 miles. The Christian churches have been at the forefront of this kind of fanaticism. — Dr. Warren Hern, friend of Dr. George Tiller

I’m eagerly awaiting more information from the Department of Justice and what they plan to do about the present violent culture surrounding abortion in America. President Obama condemned the murder. The Department of Justice sent U.S. Marshals to protect abortion providers.

Dr. Tiller was an innocent man who provided much needed services to women in horrendously difficult circumstances, being in need of a late pregnancy abortion. No person had the right to decide his life was worthless or to take his life. His murder was a cold-blooded act of domestic terrorism directed at abortion providers and the patients who seek their services. They are no different than al-Qaeda terrorists who are willing to take our lives because they believe our way of life is heretical according to their beliefs.

I just wanted anyone’s opinion on if I was in the wrong here, and what any of you guys would have done in this situation. So my wife is quite liberal and I’m more on the conservative side, and she’s about 3 months pregnant. She can’t work right now, so I’ve been forced to support her as of late. The thing is that about a week ago she started asking me if she could borrow $400, and being pretty secretive about the reason why. I soon found out that $400 was the average cost of a back alley abortion, which is ridiculous considering that she knows how vehemently pro-life I am. After refusing to give her the money and the countless hours of arguing that ensued, I ended up making a comment about how if she wanted to do something liberal with $400, she should take advantage of Obummer’s “ ARRA,” so that “instead of murdering our kid, he can have satellite internet at a smashing price!” (I linked it so you can actually see it’s about $400 in taxpayer money that our President chose to waste on this s**t, aren’t I so funny hah). The messed up part is that she went and told her dad, who happens to be just as liberal as her, and who also happens to own the house that we’re renting. To make a long story short, my tenancy has been “suspended” from his house (I’m now staying at my buddy’s place until this thing blows over) and he gave her the money to get the abortion. I haven’t talked to her in almost a week, so it’s pretty safe to say that she has already gone through with it. So my question is, do you think I was being inappropriate for mocking my wife and father in law’s political ideologies, or do you think I’m being unfairly persecuted because of my relative conservatism, and the Obummer joke I made has little to nothing to do with this? I’m thinking the latter.

    Chris,

If you and your wife have such disparate values, why did you marry? Get a divorce, and then examine what it really means to be married and a father before you saddle someone else with your immaturity. Don’t count on this blowing over. It won’t and it shouldn’t. You’re a real piece of work.

If I were your wife I would have kicked you out, too. You obviously don’t give a damn about her well-being. “I’ve been forced to support her of late”? If it’s not your responsibility to support your wife who is pregnant with your child and unable to work, whose responsibility is it?

$400 would pay for a legal early term abortion. If she needed more money than that for a safe and legal abortion, I hope her father provided it.

Ever consider she chose an abortion because you were giving her such hell about not working? Ever consider she decided you’re neither husband nor father material and she can’t afford to sit at home for months without support and then become a single mother?

You are not being persecuted. You’ve suffered nothing. Your pride is hurt because your wife wouldn’t do as you told her and take your bullshit on top of that. She did the right thing by kicking you out, whether or not she had the baby. And good for her dad for supporting his daughter. Where do you think she got her liberal ideas if not from her parents?

Get a divorce and grow up before you marry again. And next time find someone who truly shares your values.
